I paint because it is both my connection to and escape from the world around me. I find beauty and mystery on the faces of people everywhere. In my portraits I hope to hold on to those moments that are fleeting. A smile, a sly glance or the crash of a breaking heart. I work quickly and finish my paintings all in one sitting... making acrylics a very helpful tool. The fast-drying qualities of acrylic paint make it possible to convey the excitement I feel while creating. I am self-taught and my current body of work is the culmination of years in the studio, learning through playing. I feel that my bold and simple colors and lines are an honest vehicle of delivery for the core of my work - human emotion.
I paint nearly every day... because it makes me happy.
